For many years I would run head first at top speed into Writer's Block when it came to writing an "About Me" page. Standing in a cloud of dust, I'd repeatedly wonder why.
Why can't I write about myself? I know me better than anyone else!
It bothered me tremendously that I could not connect with the topic of myself until I realized that I wasn't writing about me. I was describing the various roles I play in my life:
- Mother of five children
- A caregiver for the elderly and children with disabilities
- A co-pastor, pastors assistant, and prophet (previously)
- A bodybuilder
- An author
- A student studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Metaphysical Sciences
Upon receiving this realization, I set myself on a quest to find out the authentic answer to the question of who I am. I was led to a quote that revolutionized the "About Me" page of my inner life script:
"We are spiritual beings having a human experience." - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Understanding that I am not the roles I play but the spirit experiencing them changed my perspective about myself- mainly that I am so much more than the narrowness of my daily tasks. This led me to explore and learn about myself as a spiritual being. The meaning of my name was the first exploration.
As a young girl, my harsh life experiences proved to me that words are powerful energetic tools. They have the power to create and destroy. So, I wanted to know what I was being called when people said my name.
- Asha: (Hindu/Indian) hope, wish, or desire; (Swahili) life or one who lives well; (Arabic) lively or alive (Zoroastrianism): Truth, righteousness
Zalika: (Swahili/Egyptian) perfect birth, well-born; (Arabic) wondrously beautiful
Learning this created an amazing personal paradigm shift. I stopped saying "My name is Asha Zalika" and began saying "I AM Asha Zalika", thereby claiming and manifesting who I am being called to be.
Down through the years I have come to realize that in order to fully understand who I am light must be shed upon who I have been:
I have been hated and I have been loved. I have been abandoned and I have been reclaimed. I have been neglected and I have been treasured. I have been abused and I have been nurtured. I have been fed with dignitaries, officials and the elite and I have been hungry with pimps, prostitutes and pushers. I have been deplored and I have been relished. I have been scorned and I have been esteemed. I have sunken to wretched lows and I have risen to marvelous heights. I have been debased and I have been virtuous. I have been ridiculed and I have been commended. I have been given to and I have been stolen from. I have been lost and I have been found.
I have been transitioned and I am now transitioning.
I have been birthed and am now being born. I have died and am now dying. I have seen and am now seeing. I have lived and am now living. I have heard and am now hearing. I have felt and am now feeling. I have understood and am now understanding. I have been awake and am now awakening. I have sought authenticity and I am now authentic. I have sought my purpose and I am now living my purpose.
I am here on purpose... for one purpose: YOU!
Who am I?
I am a REVELATOR: one that reveals especially: one that reveals the will of God (Merriam-Webster)
I am a PARADIGM SHIFTER: someone who helps bring about a significant change in the usual way of thinking about or doing something and replaces it with a new and different way. (My definition along with Google)
Why am I here?
I am here to help you revolutionize your life with one revelation at a time.
